The horned head dress was the height of fashion in later Medieval times. The lady wearing it is rich, and clearly does not do too much active work with this balanced on her head! The more simply dressed woman, in not so full skirts and more sensible head gear, is probably her maid. This poor woman is having to do the most work by turning the spinning wheel! |
