Spanish
Armada
- Philip of Spain became annoyed
with the English sailors for attacking and stealing from Spanish treasure ships sailing
from the New World.
- In 1588 he launched an Armada of Spanish galleons
against England. They were met in the channel by the smaller, faster, English ships.
- Many Spanish ships were set on fire and others
destroyed in storms as they tried to find a way home around Scotland.
