These two items would be used in the Victorian garden. The rattle at the top would be swung around by the gardener's boy to scare away birds. The object at the bottom was used to puff smoke into a beehive. A few scraps of rag were placed in the cylinder on the right. They were lit and then the cone attached. |

The leather part under the cylinder could be squeezed up and down to pump the smoke from the fire into a beehive. The smoke made the bees go sleepy and honey could be collected without the gardener being stung. |
