Testing how sunlight affects pigment

1. Take a painting that you have done and cover half of it with black sugar paper.

2. Place the half covered painting on a window sill that gets lots of sunlight.

3. After three weeks, remove the black paper to see if the ultra-violet rays in the sunlight have faded the uncovered half like the illustration on the left.
