Lamp

This lamp would have been filled with oil. The wick goes in the hole on the right. The central hole was for filling the lamp and letting air in to help it burn. It was small to stop the mice drinking the oil!

Made in a two-piece mould. The maker's stamp C CLOSVC can be seen on the base. His name was Gaius Clodius Successus.

90 - 140 A.D., made in Italy.
