This lamp would have been
filled with oil. The
wick goes in the hole on the right. The central hole was for filling
the lamp and letting air in to help it burn. It was small to stop the
mice drinking the oil!
Made in a two-piece mould.
The maker's stamp C CLOSVC can be seen on the base. His name was Gaius
Clodius Successus.
